CLIENT
Personal project

In 2016 I took part in a typography workshop held by Luciano Perondi and Alessio D’Ellena “Type — Design Starter Kit: the suprematist process”. During the workshop i had the opportunity to experiment and design a typeface, with a mix of abstract shapes and calligraphic brushes. From that experience i realized “Castrignano”, a new typeface that is still evolving.
The workshop took 5 days, starting with an initial generative phase where we’ve been experimenting abstract concepts and shapes, and then we went deep in practical, bringing those concepts to life on the paper and afterwards on the screen, using the software Glyphs.

The typeface is inspired to calligraphy, in fact its shapes consists in thin lines and other thicker lines in the most central part of the sign. The inclination angle of the glyphs is always slanted, at a minimum of 40 degrees, this brings a sense of hand writing.
